A happy community event

A happy community event

Students from Interact of Port Nicholson, Wellington College and Onslow College help pack out the town hall

The annual Blue Dragon Book Fair is a happy community event. Held every year at the Ngaio Town Hall in Wellington, it brings people together to feed their love of reading and books. Importantly, it also raises money for children and families in Vietnam.

This  year, we raised $26,300 – all of which has been transferred into the bank account of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation in Vietnam, along with other recent donations and regular contributions.

Michael Brosowski, Founder and Strategic Director of Blue Dragon, thanked the trustees, supporters and volunteers for the “wonderful donation” and said the money would be used to continue its work caring for children and teens who have been rescued from slavery, trafficking and homelessness. Their costs include accommodation, food, psychological therapy and family reunions.

Trustees and supporters of the Blue Children’s Trust NZ are very pleased with this year’s total, given the bad weather over the weekend, cost of fuel and general economic climate.

A big thanks for all your support

We’re extremely grateful for the support and help from people in the community, our families and our friends. This includes a bunch of fantastic students from Wellington’s Interact Club of Port Nicholson (a subsidiary of Rotary International), Wellington College and Onslow College.

Our big thanks also to Kennards Self-Storage staff, who are always so helpful and supportive, and to the men from VanMan Movers, who removed the books from Kennards and put them on the tables in the town hall with great good cheer.

Thanks to the many supermarket staff who provided us with empty banana boxes every day for a month. And finally, thanks to Book Express NZ who took most of our leftover books.
